PMC Foundation
The PMC Foundation strives to enhance the quality of PMC care through assistance by providing medical equipment, scholarships, emergency cash fund for patients, and education assistance to PMC, its employees, and its patients.
ABOUT THE PMC FOUNDATION
The Foundation was first established in April 1990. It is a non-profit 501 (3)(c) organization that was established to provide support to Petersburg Medical Center. For more information about the Foundation, please contact [email protected].
Membership
Petersburg Medical Center Foundation welcomes members at anytime! For only $25 for an individual, $50 for a family, or $250 for a business you can become a member. Membership lasts one year from the date of contribution. Membership not only is a tax-exempt contribution but you become eligible to serve on the foundation board of directors, subcommittees, and attend the Annual Membership meeting to be held each Spring. At the Annual Membership meeting you will help the foundation determine how best to utilize the financial resources it manages. Please download a brochure and become a member today.
Donations
When you donate directly to the Foundation it is tax deductible. You may designate your donation for a special purpose. You may mark it, for instance, for general use, capital improvements projects, scholarship fund or memorial. Your generosity and that of others in our community supports quality healthcare in Petersburg. You can donate online, download a brochure, or mail donations to: PO Box 589, Petersburg, AK 99833. Please put in the memo line "Foundation".
Fundraising
The PMC Foundation's annual Pedal/Paddle Battle occurs each summer to raise funds for continuing education for PMC staff and graduating PHS seniors entering the healthcare field. For more information about this event click here.
Scholarship/Loans
PMC Foundation has established three different scholarship/loans to assists high school students, current PMC employees, and Alaskans in healthcare professions, interested in coming or returning to Petersburg, Alaska to work.
In 2016 the Foundation established the Petersburg Medial Center Foundation Scholarship for graduating high school seniors. The scholarship is for $1,000. Please see the Petersburg High School guidance counselor for more information, or you may review the scholarship requirements and submit directly to the Foundation. The Norma J Tenfjord Scholarship was established to assist PMC staff with their education in healthcare. This scholarship is designed to promote healthcare careers. In 2024 one scholarship was awarded to assist PMC staff with their medical educational expenses. Recipients may receive up to $10,000 toward their educational needs. Please see the service agreement for terms and conditions.
The Petersburg Medical Center Foundation Scholarship/Loan was established in 2015 to assist post-secondary Alaskans pursuing medical training, particularly in specialties a high demand. The recipient may receive up to $10,000, which can be forgiven by successful employment at PMC. Please see the service agreement for terms and conditions.
