Join guest speakers from the Juneau Suicide Prevention Coalition for these meaningful conversations around suicide prevention and how we can help ourselves and others in our community. JANET PETERSON BIO:
Dr. Peterson has a master’s in exercise science, a doctorate in preventive care and is a practicing Registered Dietitian and Wilderness EMT. Janet has over 20 years of experience as a professor in health, human performance, and nutrition and has taught wilderness medicine courses for just as long. She currently works as a research analyst where she evaluates evidence based practices and breaks down complex topics to provide simple, understandable medical information. When she is not teaching or writing, she is playing in the backcountry, usually on a bicycle. She also enjoys spending time with her pup, Bonnie.

Guest speakers Janet Peterson, DrPH, RD, WEMT and Angela Henderson, RN will facilitate this course from Base Medical. Wilderness First Aid prepares participants with the knowledge and skills to respond to medical emergencies in remote and challenging environments. This course will prepare participants to respond to emergencies in your backyard or out in the backcountry. The program includes eight hours of self-paced online instruction, followed by eight hours of in-person practical training to practice skills. Pre-registration is required by March 18th.
