PETER KLINE
Marathons with Meaning

Peter Kline's running journey began at the age of 52, out of shape and overweight, with his first 10k. Soon after, a close friend of Peter’s who had been diagnosed with an aggressive brain cancer, challenged him to run the Boston Marathon to raise money for cancer research. Running for a cause sparked a new passion within Peter to not just run, but to run with a purpose.
In 2012, Peter connected with a young lady, Taylor who at the time was 19 years old. Taylor who has cerebral palsy became Peter’s first rider-athlete and he helped her complete her first marathon, The Rock n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon. Peter went on to form “Marathons With Meaning” to make running more accessible for people with disabilities.
A major passion in Peter’s life is endurance running and the ability to share that experience with children and adults who have disabilities. Now at the age of 73, Peter has finished more than 175 marathons and ultra marathon, more than 75 of which he completed with rider-athletes, whom he propels through the courses in a jogging stroller. Peter has not run a marathon in over 13 years without a rider-athlete, some of whom he has run with multiple times. The kids and young adults come to Peter through many sources and while non are his biological children, he treats them all like family.

Peter’s commitment to this initiative has been chronicled by The New York Times, The Chicago Tribune, The Seattle Times, The Salt Lake Tribune, CBS News, Fox News, and the Brooks running catalog. He continues to train for new marathons, eager to give additional athletes the thrill of competition and the joy that stems from the support they receive on racing day.

Within his community, Peter serves as a Life Coach for Congregation for the Homeless and is a Little League Baseball coach and umpire. Previously, he served as a board member for Healing the Children, Childcare Resources, Bellevue Lions Club, and the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce. He has also volunteered as a Big Brother mentor. A motivational speaker, Peter enjoys sharing his zest for life and volunteerism with others, addressing educational and civic organizations, nonprofits, and business Associations.

When time allows, Peter likes to ride his motorcycle, ski with his sons and his friends, go horseback riding, rescue pets in need of a home, and serve as a teacher to others.

STAY HEALTHY, STAY SAFE!
