ORCA Camps information
Purpose of ORCA CampsOutdoor Recreation Creation & Adventure (ORCA) Camps strive to keep youth outside, exploring, and learning. It is the philosophy of the program that young people thrive when they are given opportunities to try new skills in supported environments with adults serving as positive role models. ORCA Camps provide topic-specific enrichment opportunities for youth of various ages and abilities. At the culmination of each ORCA Camp, participants should have a better understanding of the given topic, formed positive relationships with peers and adults, and met the specific goals of each ORCA Camp.

risk philosophyORCA Camps facilitate moderately risky activities for youth. We have staff with various certifications to support programming and frequently partner with other high-quality organizations to provide safe and enriching experiences for youth. PMC Youth Programs implemented a Risk Assessment & Planning Team in the fall of 2024 to help define risk goals, priorities, and design Risk Assessment Management Plans (RAMPs) for all ORCA Camps.
In April the Risk Assessment & Planning Team met to review Risk Assessment Management Plans for various camps and activities under the PMC Youth Programs umbrella. The diverse team of first responders, doctors, State Troopers, recreation experts, and PMC Leadership provided valuable feedback and perspective. |

ACA accreditation means that PMC Youth Programs (Kinder Skog & ORCA) and submitted to a thorough (up to 266 standards) review of its operation by the American Camp Association (ACA) — from staff qualifications and training to emergency management. American Camp Association collaborates with experts from the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Red Cross, and other youth-serving agencies to assure that current practices at the camp reflect the most up-to-date, research-based standards in camp operation. PMC Youth Programs (Kinder Skog & ORCA) and ACA form a partnership that promotes summers of growth and fun in an environment committed to safety.
