Through experiences rooted in nature, we inspire young people to discover their strengths, build lasting relationships, and develop character that supports both personal well-being and the health of our community for generations to come. - MISSION - PMC Youth Programs strives to provide enriching opportunities for youth and support the healthy growth and development of children and their families. |
Risk PhilosophyKinder Skog is dedicated to fostering meaningful youth engagement through adventurous, thoughtfully guided play. We believe that healthy risk-taking is an essential part of child development, offering opportunities for confidence, resilience, creativity, and sound decision-making to flourish. Our staff create environments that balance challenge and excitement with reasonable safety measures, modeling and reinforcing effective risk management. Children are active partners in this process—engaging in conversations about risk, weighing choices, and practicing critical thinking. Through this shared approach, participants learn to embrace challenge, take responsibility for their decisions, and grow into capable, confident adventurers.
In Fall 2024, PMC Youth Programs established the Risk Assessment & Planning Team (RAPT). This dedicated group brings together first responders, recreational professionals, healthcare providers, PMC leadership, and childcare specialists to strengthen our commitment to safe, high-quality programming. RAPT meets twice a year—each spring and fall—to review incidents, advise on healthy risk promotion, and support the development of Risk Assessment & Management Plans. Through this collaboration, RAPT helps ensure that PMC Youth Programs remain adventurous, engaging, and as safe as necessary. |
